The battle began before the deployment of all units. In 1529, the Ottomans had moved up the Danube and besieged Vienna. This happened when John III Sobieski had sent relief troops to Vienna. This day is also the day the Ottoman’s leader Kara Mustafa sent a demand for surrender to the city. By 1699, large parts of Hungary and Transylvania had been recaptured.
